Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, a luminary of Bengali novels, bore witness to the suffering and cries of this country's people in this colonial yoke. However, when he sought to wield his pen as a symbol of resistance, the human' and litterateur Bankim was overshadowed by the deputy Bankim Chadra. It was Rizia Rahman, the fearless and candid novelist from Bangladesh, who not only completed Bankim Chandra's untold narrative, but also unveiled the agonies of a truth-seeking writer's limitations.
